Hands on Learning
Be Your Best

About SPARK
For more than 10 years, SPARK has been connecting motivated high school students in the Greater Seattle area with inspiring mentors from diverse fields. Our volunteer-run program provides hands-on learning experiences by connecting students with industry experts, educators, and community leaders.
We believe that meaningful mentorship can significantly impact a young person’s personal and professional growth. Through these relationships, students gain valuable insights, explore career paths, and develop essential skills.
How we Do It
SPARK bridges the gap between high school students and experienced professionals by facilitating mentorship opportunities. We partner with mentors from diverse backgrounds, including business startups, established companies, and academia, who are passionate about giving back to the community and helping students explore their fields of interest. Mentors define project scopes, student qualifications, and time commitments.
Application and Selection Process:
what people say
“I had a great time - Not only did I get the opportunity to collaboratively work on an interesting and real-world project, but I also gained experience with many new technologies. I am grateful for this experience, and strongly recommend it to anyone interested”
“SPARK has given me the opportunity to learn a wide range of new concepts related to Machine Learning, and the ability to present information. These concepts I learned have allowed me to create new and more complex personal projects. Through this experience, I have gained both technical knowledge and the ability to communicate ideas in a professional manner”
“We have a solid routine in place and would like to keep things as they are. Few students have been able to continue their work here as an hourly contractor and we are pleased with their efforts. It is a wild success when we can not only place students as mentees, but enable the all-stars to get paid while further enhancing their resume”
“All the students were very good and one of the students just had his paper accepted at an IEEE Conference based on his summer work. Another student is in touch with us and he enjoyed his work so much that wants to continue, while being admitted to one of the top school for his undergrad. I value our partnership and will be on the lookout out for further instruction from you for next summer”
