No, only the students in grades 9-12 for the current school year 2023-2024 are eligible to apply.

I am a freshman in college? Can I apply?

No, only the students in grades 9-12 for the current school year 2022-2023 are eligible to apply.

Q:Do we need to write a different essay for each project that we apply to?

Yes - We need 1 essay specific for every project you are applying to (with responses for 3 questions). We will forward it to the providers. This is how they determine your fit for the specific project.

Just think about the question " Why do you think that you are a good fit for this projectip?"

Don't you think it has to be tailored to the project? How else can you convince the provider that you are the right fit?

Only the content for essay#3 on strengths and weakness can perhaps be the same for each project.

Q:If we do get matched with a sponsor and project, are we allowed to cancel it in case of scheduling difficulties?

Please think hard about your commitments for the summer before applying. SPARK SIP invests a lot of time pouring over the applications and shortlisting the candidates. The mentorship providers are investing a lot of time in selecting the candidate and the interviews. Last, but not least, you are taking away the opportunity for another great student.

But, yes, you are allowed to cancel - but we expect the reason to be a good one. Otherwise, we will take this into consideration if you apply again. Also, regardless, your fees will not be reimbursed.

Q:What is the chance of getting matched with a sponsor and project?

There are no guarantees. It is a very competitive process. The final selection of the candidate for the interview and the position is decided by the mentorhip provider.

Q: Are students in H4/EAD/F1 eligible?

Students other than US citizens or permanent residents are all not eligible for these projects since neither SPARK nor the providers have the resources that are required to follow the various processes and paperwork required. Students also need to be current residents within USA
