Low temperature electronics for quantum computing and beyond

Provider(s):
University of Washington and Eastern Washington University

Description:
Suited for students who want to learn about low temperature electronics, semiconductor physics, materials and devices. The student will read research papers and books such as white papers and play a role in developing a technical document. Excellent writing and/or technical drawing skills are required. This project has weekly deadlines and requires frequent meetings with the team. Critical reading, writing and developing documents is a major component.

The student should have access to a major library facility if remote. In general, students are able to access the libraries of many public universities in-person.

This project is part of the IEEE Nanotechnology Council Summer Internship.

Qualifications Required:

Suited for students with ability to work on math problems at the level of AMC 12 and/or AIME.

Alternatively, students should have excellent writing skills in English.

Ability to read papers and summarize findings in a clear manner.
Ability to write reports.
Good writing and technical drawing skills.

Research Component:
This is an area that has become important due to advances in quantum computing. It is also important to space missions. The work involves researching manuscripts, understand them and writing. If the student has exceptional math/physics/computing skills, numerical calculations will be assigned but this is not mandatory.
Location:
Seattle, WA and remote. Remote students require access to a library in a university.
